Kirsten
Jones has called Toronto her home for over a decade, but
this Virginia native's southern influences still shine through.
In addition to the occasional "y'all" that peppers her speech,
she gets inspiration from such artists as Patty Griffin,
Maria McKee, the Jayhawks, and Lucinda Williams.
"I didn't really listen to American alt-country before moving
to Canada, and now it's my music of choice. The Canadian music
scene has also had a major influence on me, and I'd like to
think I've melded the two together in my music". She notes
artists like Sarah Harmer and Oh Susanna as
among her favourite Canadian acts.
Her full length debut is called Drive In Movie and
it is an honest account of the human experience. We will hear
some of her songs tonight on nightcap in anticipation
of her upcoming Alberta mini-tour:
May 30 - Café Paradiso (Calgary) playing with Ann
Vriend
May 31 - The

June 1 - Three Hills Arts Centre (Three Hills)
June 5 - The
