Getting on the Arts & Culture Guide:
The shorter and easier to read, the better chance your Public Service Announcement (PSA) will be aired. Due to the vast number of Alberta events, we can't guarantee that we can air yours, but we will do our best. Email your PSA to artsinfo@ckua.com, 2 to 3 weeks ahead of time - no earlier, no later.
Format Checklist:
1. Email messages or Word attachments only
2. Double-spaced, large fonts (at least 12pt), short sentences, less than one page
Content Checklist:
1. Include a contact name, contact phone number, email address
2. Heading should include the PSA's release date and the event address (including town/city)
3. Title the PSA
4. Provide information near the top about the work or artist, and the venue, time and dates of performance. You may repeat this near the bottom of the PSA to lock it in the mind of the listener.
5. Email subject line should include the name of the event and the date it occurs
6. Read the page aloud to determine if the words make sense and are easy to read. A pronunciation guide for artists, places, titles and other names is essential. Time it while reading.
7. Do a final proofread check for spelling, phone numbers, dates, times...
Press Releases:
Press releases are longer than PSAs and contain more information about artists, material and history of performance, often along with reviews. Generally they're sent to the print media or in conjunction with PSAs as background for interviews or program notation. Although they are not necessary for the Arts & Culture Guide, if an interview is to be done, that kind of information is vital.
