Along with long-time arts reporter Chris Allen, Kathleen Renne hosts, produces and presents Arts Alive, CKUA’s weekday feature focusing on Alberta’s vibrant arts and culture scene.
Born and raised in Calgary, Kathleen earned her first degree in Canadian history at the University of Calgary. After a couple of years working for a local publishing house, she went to Halifax to study journalism at the University of King's College. Upon graduation, she worked at CBC Newsworld. Kathleen also produced Absolutely Canadian, a program that highlighted regional and civic news suitable for a national audience. Kathleen remains a frequent contributor to FFWD, Calgary's news and entertainment weekly. She's been involved in Calgary's community theatre scene for the past decade, and theatre remains her passion, whether onstage or watching from the very back row. Recently, she's been experimenting with jewellery design at the Alberta College of Art and Design and attempting to pen her own play.
